HOW TO TREAT INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS ANXIETY THROUGH MEDICATIONS

What are intrusive thoughts?
Intrusive thoughts are uncontrollable thoughts constantly repeated in the mind, which brings about fear, anxiety, and compulsions. These thoughts torment the patients forcing them to engage in ritual for a brief moment of peace and relief.
Intrusive thoughts can either be sexual, violent or blasphemous. People suffering from these intrusive thoughts, fear, urge or mental images. These thoughts might be about harming friends, spouse or family, repeatedly worrying that one has or will physically assault another person, repetitive thoughts that one has said or written something inappropriate, mental images or thoughts that one considers sacrilegious or blasphemous, recurrent fear of molesting a child, and recurrent fears that one might be homosexual, when in fact he/she is not.
But everyone is a victim of these thoughts, so is everyone mentally ill? It true that everyone has uncontrollable thoughts, however when these thoughts start making you anxious and affecting your ability to complete your daily tasks, then it becomes a mental illness.
Medication
Patients suffering from unwanted repetitive intrusive thoughts are often prescribed with drugs. These drugs are antidepressants, which help deal with the anxiety. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SRIs) are common types of medication for intrusive thoughts anxiety patients.
Both SSRIs and SRIs drugs are used to help with depression and anxiety. It also helps Obsessive Compulsive Disorder patients get over their symptoms. Although, these medication takes about 10 – 12 weeks before patients start experiencing relief.
These medications are known to have side effects like headaches, nausea, or difficulty sleeping. The side effects are not always severe and as you continue with the treatment the side effects get better. However, the above mention side effects differ if patients are taking clomipramine, which is a different class from SSRIs medication. Its own side effects are dry mouth, constipation, rapid heartbeat, and dizziness on standing.
