Have you ever had a thought that just kept coming back no matter how hard you try not thinking about it? Thoughts such as this that appear stuck in our minds are called repetitive thoughts. Let’s find a way how to stop repetitive thoughts!

Recently, a more fancy name is being used to address this type of thought called rumination. It keeps having the negative thought replay over and over again like it some kind of loop. You try to take a nap or deep sleep, only to wake up to still have those negative thoughts ruminating over you.

It has been something that really got me worried. It started feeling worse as I begin to feel like the thoughts are never-ending, so kind of infinite loop I can’t escape from. I can’t able to find a way how to stop repetitive thoughts in my mind.

Also, thoughts that get stuck in our minds differ, sometimes its melodies, songs, thoughts, concepts, and sometimes fear. These negative repetitive thoughts affect sometimes affect my ability to complete the task on time or at all. They distract us, making us unable to focus on the task at hand or ahead.

There are existing ways that help saves you from the loop. However, one should be aware that you can’t totally remove these thoughts, rather attenuate the effects of anxiety or fear.

Reduce stress

The reason most people having repetitive thoughts is that of stress. Stress is known to increase electrical activities in the brain, these electrical activities aid repetitive thoughts in our mind. Also, stress increases the anxiety level associated with these thoughts and also causing you not to control your anxiety.

Relax

Since it has been stated that stress causes repetitive thoughts, so why not take a nap, good sleep or find a way to relieve yourself from stress and fatigue.

Keep yourself distracted

Another effective way is to keep your mind distracted. Do something that engages your entire mind. Whenever our mind is less busy be thoughts take advantage even if it for a split second. So try things like playing your favorite video game, go out with friends, and other engaging activities.

Stop worrying

You have to stop worrying about these persistent thoughts as it does not help you in making them stop but aggravate the effect of these thoughts. These thoughts are easily eliminated when you no longer worry about them, which reduces stress.

Chew Gum

Sounds funny, right? I would like to inform you it actually harms. Instead of the lots of electrical activities converted into repetitive thoughts, you avoid that by interrupting them by chewing gum.

These ways are very effective if you have stuck thoughts in your mind. However, this method might be ineffective against individuals having unwanted thoughts due to issues like anxiety, OCD, and other related conditions.
